I hope you guys are doing good! It’s full-blown spring now in Tokyo so I spent the weekend eating donuts under the cherry blossoms (at a very safe distance from any other human beings, of course). Well, maybe not the entire weekend, as I also managed to draw another CG for Historia over Sunday and wrapped up editing for yet another chapter of my novel. All in all, it’s been a rather productive week.

The number one thing I’m excited about right now is finishing my novel — only 4 chapters left to edit and I’ll be done… I don’t even know which pass it was, at this point, but I don’t think I want to spend any more time on this one. It is what it is. I still love that story, even after reading it like 20 times by now, and I’m extremely excited about querying with it and then probably sharing it with you (because I doubt I can actually get an agent haha).

For Historia – it seems I’m going to be behind the schedule. My list of remaining assets was missing several images that I still need to draw and that threw my calculations out of the window. But that’s alright, better take a bit longer than make crappy drawings. I’m sure nobody will cry that the game is late a month or so. It’s hard to draw more than two backgrounds in a week when I need to work, draw Replay and edit two chapters of my novel at the same time. Yes, I sleep 8 hours. I like sleeping.

What am I reading now? Still Dresden Files! I’m almost done with volume 4 at this point. I’ve been also doing some beta-reading for one of my writing friends but I can’t share that one haha~

Well, I hope you’ll have a nice week ahead, and please enjoy our little evil puppeteer!

I kind wish she’d go “Muahahahaa!”
I mean, sure she’s not evil, but evil maniacal laughter seems kind of appropriate here.
Guess I’ll just have to imagine it 😛

I think her maniacal laughter is just being drowned out by the groan of the humongous demon being torn apart from the inside out, that’s all.

Besides, someone who can pull stunts like that, regardless of their intentions…how was that?
      ‘Lest we become monsters ourselves’?

Sometimes you NEED some monster on your side.

… and, frankly, reading about such monsters tend to be more interesting than reading about heroes who are careful to never kill anyone and somehow survive it.

I wonder if this just means she can dispel(?) him, or if she can control him. If the latter, she should make him do a little dance.

Now look at that, our puppeteer,
a ghastly scream, instilled with fear!
You never learned what you did wrong,
now howl in terror, sing my song.

Dance as I pull on your strings,
fall as once did queens and kings!
    To the powers I command!
You will die right where you stand!

In the meantime, struck by awe,
can’t believe what he just saw.
A spell this fierce was bound to paper?
And what is up with this red vapor?

But alas, I need to wonder,
the prize to pay remains to ponder.
In this world, nothing is free,
the prize to pay, what will it be?

Your legs? Your spine? Your soul by chance?
The devil might yet ask to dance.
Enjoy the moment, while it lasts,
The glowing red, bane of your pasts.

How many lives have you lived now?
Whom did you deal with, make your vow?
To wield a power, ‘s strong as this.
Now you’ve become death’s fateful kiss.

Don’t mind me, I’ll just be over here quietly cheering about Ada’s strength and skill and beauty.

    (Go Ada!)

Are we the baddies? Honestly Ada looks like a really scary villain in this.

One story’s hero is pretty much always another story’s villain.

Remember that guy who caused an avalanche, which crushed the approaching army in its wake and who saved the country?
      A hero, right?

But what about the wifes and daughters of the soldiers who got killed in the avalanche…wanna guess whether that soldier is a ‘hero’ to them?

      • JW Reply

Part of the job though. And it’s pretty stupid to walk around in avalanche areas. Whoever ordered them there is the real villain.
You just have to look at the first world war and the the endless slaughter they send people into to gain a few feet of no man’s land, and it’s pretty clear that the people fighting the war aren’t the enemy, but the people leading it.

Anyway. Hail dread-empress Ada! May she long rule supreme!

    • JW Reply

Well, she’s bigger than the demon there, so I imagine they don’t fit anymore. 😛
Maybe it’s some sort of astral projection? Or just imaginary..
