I hope you guys are doing great. I’m honestly just constantly irritated at days only having 24 hours each; there are so many things I want to do (as usual). The achievement of last week is probably finishing The Bladed Faith (the ending was pretty good, but I’m still bitter at the execution of it all; maybe the author’s writing is just not to my liking). I’m almost done with A Magic Steeped in Poison but still a bit left and I picked up Spinning Silver. Apart from these, I’ve been working on my Mind Drummer to finish the editing but there’s still quite a bit left. I’ll most likely need another week to clean up all the repeated words and missing commas.

Next weekend we’ll be going for a little trip with my forever-fiance. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to draw the comic page but I’ll try to. I already missed one when I was in Poland and I’d rather not repeat that so soon. the rainy season is coming so I don’t expect us to have any opportunity for hiking or sightseeing but we won’t be taking any time off from work so any exploring will eat at my drawing time. The entire idea is to just escape to the countryside for a bit.

See you next week with some more Sofia!

Yay, Sofia is back! Man, if a girl made plans on how to win me over the way she does it, and with her looks, I would be head over heels for her.

Btw: What’s the deadline for the gamma-reading phase of The Mind Drummer and how many pages does it have?

In all honesty, while I picked up your idea that she’s going to try for Rob’s attention again that day, I cannot help but wonder.
Last I checked, they were still in that cabin and the camp has no way of knowing whether they’re even back on the way home.
For all everyone knows, they might well be dead and gone.

As such, Sofia’s depicted action may well be the start of a really, really stupid endeavor…called ‘Trying to find Robert beyond the barrier’. Which may well lead to a rather untimely demise of Sofia.

I seriously hope she’s smarter than that.

Well, it could be a long-term plan she’s going to put into action once Rob returns.

Or she could venture into the wild to find him, sure. Then she accidentally finds the sandwich he threw away and once she finds him she will scold him because even if he doesn’t love her, he shouldn’t waste food. Or she will be attacked and die in his arms and her last words will be “why did you waste my food? *blegh*”

Or, she could sell her soul to the fiends after a promise to be with her purple-eyed wolf-boy for all eternity. Not thinking clearly what all eternity might mean; like missing an eye and having a wart on the end of his nose with a hair growing out of it that tickles her when they’re kissing and all she can think about is, “ewww nose wart hair,” for the rest of eternity. But NI would never do that to us.

Above was meant to be punny – yay Sofia’s back and also Sofia’s back. Ogre humor is hard to understand.

Also as side note, NI, I would prefer 12 hour days and increasing their number to 14 per week and having four leap days every eight years – thus giving me time to procrastinate further. This in contrast to what would surely be your desire to have 48 hours per day and retain 7 per week. 😀

Ohhh sorry, I thought I replied – there will be no deadline because I’m not planning to query it this year, most likely. I’m almost done with the fixes so maybe I can give it to gamma readers next week? That’d be nice if I managed. And it’s a bit shorter than The Cleansed Ones were although I didn’t try to export it into book format to see how many print pages that would be. It’s 120k words.

    Flabbergasted, shy and lost,
he loves that girl, but at what cost?
A simple thing is all it took,
to write her name down in his book.

But tell me, Stefen, does she know,
that it is her that makes you glow?
Did you tell her how you feel?
Or does the mere thought make you keel?

    Are you, perhaps, even afraid,
that telling her will close that gate?
And that she won’t quite be delighted,
that all those feels are unrequited?

But tell you what, that just won’t do.
Must tell her soon, such girls are few.
    It’s nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Now calm your nerves, so you won’t faint.

Look at Sophie, brave and bold.
She fears no rival, minds no cold.
Watch her walk that extra mile,
and keep on fighting with a smile.

Won’t look left and won’t look right.
Will try again in morning’s light.
Won’t look back either, will not rest,
and fails to see, what might be best.

The things we do, when we’re in love,
when down we go, beyond, above.
The good she’d have, she fails to see.
I hope, one day, you’ll too be free.

You have quite the endurance with these poems. They look nice as always, and today I learnt that I pronouned “unrequited” wrong since forever. I thought it was pronounced like “quit”, but that’s what I get for learning most of my English from reading.

Yoh yoh! Steffie my dude, is you skeered?
That droppin’ yo feels finds she never keered?
And that flame you toke, will be unrequit?
That wit’ yo love she ain’t delit?

I made it work, Alex. Here for you <<

I will now observe another self-ban of 30+ days do that NI does not have to (ban me that is).

        • Refugnic Reply

I see no reason why either NI nor yourself should ban you for this.
I would like to think that NI will be delighted to find this here.

          I know that I am. 🙂

It was my way of joking “I’ll see (show) myself out.” But in webcomic comment section lingo.

Endurance is one of my key characteristic. Some would even call me ‘stubborn’, although I do tend to know when it’s time to try a different method. 🙂

I like to recall that one quote from Alfa Centauri, most notably the last line.
‘When this message appears: Always choose retry.’ (In response to the computer error message ‘Abort, Retry, Fail’).

As for ‘unrequited’, in all honesty I was a little surprised myself when it popped up on the rhyme dictionary, but apparently ‘requite’ does not hail from ‘quit’ at all, but much rather is old middle English (and came in from French) for ‘pay back’.
It’s always fun to learn something new, wouldn’t you agree? 🙂

I’m not sure these new bedfellows are settling in all that well…

Don’t be dumb, Sofia. You can’t wander outside alone, not even with ritual magic. And all tha magic swords are already taken…

Plus you will miss Robert’s return.
