Almost there

Robert has become too OP. I’ll need to kill him.

Life’s busy! I’m trying to balance drawing Replay (which is hard with so many new and complicated backgrounds that I’m not happy with), making art for Historia (which is actually a lot of fun), and editing my novel (which is painful but satisfying). Work is busy too, but with Christmas coming, things should relax a bit starting next week. Speaking of Christmas, I’m too busy to draw something extra for Replay this year, but we can always dig out some old favs, right?

I know that Christmas will suck for some of you. I hoped to go back to Poland this year but I couldn’t, I have no idea when I’ll be able to see my family. Some of you probably lost your loved ones this year or are struggling even now — with loss, illness, finances, or anything else. I still wish for you all to have as lovely Christmas as you can (whether you celebrate it or not) and forget about how awful this year has been for even a short moment.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Enemy spotted! To pieces with him!
A price is to pay if power’s used on a whim.
Not looking too well, here have a drink.
Can’t have you get stuck here over a sink.

Three critters on rubble, in a debate?
Might be there for a while, no point left to wait.
Let’s go around and not stir any trouble,
cause noise travels far, quickly making it double.

So round and round and round we go,
so close yet so far, in the afternoon glow.
Night will fall soon, now where will you stay?
A little detour, then we’ll be back on our way.

But what, pray do tell, will they find inside?
More trouble, more death, or maybe a guide?
Causing a ruckus triggers carnage and pain.
Be ready to fight and to kill once again.

But beware of the power that dwells deep within,
for a price is to pay as it always has been.
It’s a dangerous game, you two chose to play.
stick closely together, no you can’t go astray.

Well, first I open the page.
Then I clone it to a separate window.
One window keeps the page open, the other one the commentary field.

Oh and then I tend to keep an open tab to the rhyme dictionary (that helps tremendously).

And finally, I take a deep breath, look at what you’ve given me…and start to type.
Really, that’s all there is to it.
An ocean of possibilities, a tiny boat I call my own and of course that trusty helmsman who’s always at my side in these endeavors. πŸ˜‰

I’m glad you still like these and did not yet get fed up with my follies. πŸ˜€

lol but please don’t kill Robert….
am I the only one who gets excited when I see the demons? I can’t even remember how I found this webcomic (I think I heard about TWC from The Silver Eye, checked it out and saw it…) but I love the demons. me weird. 😜

I hope NotImportant is kidding. Remaining human population seems already too small for long-term survival if they don’t find someone else. Also, they are heavily outnumbered.

    • Just_IDD Reply

Well we know Robert remains until the red sand rising. My guess is they will have to travel to the land of demons to kill Adam/Faust.

Successful insight check to realize that it Is the smaller ones you have to watch out for. Like tonberry with knives.

    • Refugnic Reply

You don’t need much to know that.
The big and ugly critters are impressive, sure…but it’s the small critters that can really catch you off guard.

Personally, I always thought the raptors were the far more dangerous predators, compared to the ol’ T-Rex back in Jurassic Park.

There’s a reason why super large predators have gone extinct for the biggest part…cause small and fast beats big and bulky.

      • HKMaly Reply

Deinonychus (which were called (veloci)raptors in Jurassic Park because it sounded cooler to Michael Crichton) are just as extinct as T-Rexes now … and we can hardly compare who was more dangerous predator because we know very little about them.

However, the real reason super large predators don’t exists now is because there is no big prey for them. Animals in general got smaller … and that might be related to there being less oxygen now. It make no sense for predator to grow bigger than necessary to hunt his prey, it will only make him hungry.

        • Refugnic Reply

Yes, due to the rapid change in environmental circumstances and their failure to adapt in time, although, to my knowledge, science still isn’t quite sure as to what exactly caused the mass extinction, only that it kept happening every few million years.

You are correct though, against a prey animal as large as, let’s say ‘Brachiosaurus’, the smaller hunters would have a significantly harder time than something equally large.
It would have been far more prudent of me to add ‘More dangerous for creatures as small as us’ to my statement…which adds to the notion, that a T-Rex likely wouldn’t even really bother chasing us, unless it’s really hungry.
I mean, you don’t go running after toothpicks either, do you? πŸ™‚

As to ‘why super large got out of style’…well, maybe it’s the oxygen, but I think it’s mostly due to the paradigm shift.
The food chain is rather simple in this regard: Large plant eaters require large amounts of plants to get by.
Large amounts of plants however need a lot of space, nutrients and sunlight…and during/after an ice age, there just isn’t as much of all that around as there would need to be.

And you know how evolution is: If something works, stick with it.
Which is likely why we still ‘only’ have rather small creatures around…as you correctly stated, there was simply no reason whatsoever for life to become larger than this up to now.

          • HKMaly

I won’t bother running because I don’t need to, my prey is already dead, carved and cooled. Hmmm … although, it’s true sometimes I’m running because it’s getting close to the closing hour of shop.

I would say that T’Rex would prefer something larger than us, however he wouldn’t need to be really hungry, just hungry and not seeing anything better. Also, in the movie, he was mostly chasing cars, which are bigger. He was too stupid to realize how little of meat car contains, it’s even worse than turtle.

There could be some reason to get bigger. I think lot of animals got bigger since the end of last ice age … however, not that much big as it was quite recently.

A polar bear is a rather impressive predator, especially considering the surroundings he dwells in, however I still don’t count him to the ‘super large’ category.

Besides, why attempt to explain a theory to an animal, who cannot even understand your language?
Not even Darwin would have attempted something as silly as that. πŸ˜›

          No problem.

Noooo, don’t kill Rob. Just one page ago you said that the demons got bored and went to sleep because everyone is dead.

Yes, that would be the biggest issue. Demons stopping to wreak havoc. Therefore the one who wasted the bread must live on.

NI is not likely to kill Rob – unless it advances the plotline to the ending of the comic which was the beginning of the comic and he’s there to help end Adam at the beginning of the end. Can a Replay bring colleagues back from the beyond? On second thought, she might in that case.

Still I believe we are far more likely to find Laura, Sofa Cat, or Kasper dangling in tatters from a gorgeously drawn and colorful demon. Question will be whether she draws Laura winking and dropping the peace sign on the way out. Or Fil, since he’s become kinda whiney. If there’s a vote, I vote Fil off the island. πŸ™‚ Rooster Demon…

      Happy Days that are Holi!

No need to nerf, whatever spindled that HMMWV is much stronger and probably not the top of the food chain.

Well I finally got caught up. I’m really enjoying the various flash forwards and back. NI, back in 2016 you were asking for anime suggestions. I’m not a huge consumer of moving media, but an old school horror anime is “3×3 Eyes”. Or maybe post a list of what you’ve seen and liked/notliked.

Odd, my other post. vanished. I just read up through the archive, @NI it would be really handy if the page number was by the page title text. It would make keeping track of where you are as you read up much easier for those of us who read on mobile phones where apps (web browsers) which run out of memory and crash are more common. Loving it so far!

I need to moderate some of the comments before they can appear. I approved everything now πŸ™‚

Regarding the archive… Yeah, you might be right, but would that really help with all those arbitrary titles…
