It probably feels a bit like I’m dragging this thing but I need to show what Ada’s thinking. Her reasons are important after all. So a couple more pages and then we’ll awkwardly stumble towards out destination~! I hate drawing houses, by the way. But I think you already know that by now. I feel like I want to practice more but there’s just not enough time aaaa!

Next week will be even worse because I’ll be traveling to Korea and then to Poland, to visit my family. I want to have some lazy time off and everything but I’m so tired that the travel terrifies me. The flight to Poland is long. The car ride from Warsaw (where I’ll land) to my hometown is long. I need books to read, it seems. I hope to be able to draw and write a lot during my holidays but I’m worried it’s not going to be as easy as I hope. Oh well… We’ll see…

Right, books! My whole family is now reading the Three Body Problem so if you like sci-fi you should definitely read that trilogy. It’s great, I loved it. Will read again, probably. Right now I’m reading Sanderson’s Oathbringer but it’s slow because the book is long and I don’t have much time for reading. And, since I was a bit food-poisoned over the weekend and couldn’t focus on drawing, I watched a big chunk of Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei and hey, I thought it would be much worse. It’s actually kind of fun so if you’re bored, go ahead! Did you guys watch it? Is there anything new worth taking a look?

Oh, I also watched Netflix’ Killer B some time ago but their ideas were sometimes so absurd that even though it’s very well made I couldn’t enjoy this show. Plus it felt like a weird mix of Hannibal and Mirai Nikki. I wouldn’t recommend the story but the animation was really really nice.

Btw, just to brag a little, the graphics from the banners which I showed you last week will be used to make T-shirts for Amazon folks for the Comitia event. My drawings will promote indie artists and hopefully make others more aware of KDP Manga (self-publishing of comics and graphic novels on Amazon). I’m super happy!

See you guys next week, which will be even more hectic, yikes!

Does the transition between the square inner monologue boxes and the traditional thought bubbles have some kind of significance?…

I hope she doesn’t really see him/the world like that. That would be freaky.

It’d definitely explain why she doesn’t want to kiss him though 😛

I was thinking more along the lines that with those cracks running all over him it’d be to creepy.

So I get that this is kind of a joking remark, but I feel that that is just how she pictures he feels at the moment and as she continues to “confuse him” about her feelings toward him.

Seeing can be another way of feeling; we often read emotion into the world we inhabit 🙂

This is only going to resolve itself when one or the other is dying isn’t it?
    Ah well, the hunt continues.

Not at all. But she shouldn’t have to distance herself either. Maybe for a while whilst Rob processes the fact that all she wants is platonic friendship, but it shouldn’t ruin things forever (unless Rob is an idiot!)

        • antrik Reply

What she wants is clearly not something Robert is able to provide (and that doesn’t make him an idiot) — so she can either ignore his feelings and string him along for her own benefit; or bite the bullet and distance herself. There doesn’t seem to be a third option.

      • Rateus Camp dweller Reply

@antrix The third option is for Rob to respect Ada and be the best friend he can be. Which is do-able after taking some time to get over his disappointment.

        • antrik Reply

That’s what Ada seems to be wishing — but it’s not something *she* can choose. It might or might not be possible for Robert (I absolutely reject your claim that it’s possible for anyone) — but regardless, it’s up to *him*. While she can certainly hope that it goes that way, the only choices *she* has right now are the two I mentioned.

As a metal dog I think he’d get over her in a couple incarnations, if she kept her distance. Mind you I don’t think this or the next would be the most fun but he’d get there.

She’d better not be having second thoughts about feelings for him. Assuming she really doesn’t have any, she’s doing exactly the right thing, painful as it is.

Is there anything new worth taking a look?

Well, I haven’t watched anything of the new seasons yet, but I have a lot marked for my to-see list. There’s lots of sequels (like “Steins Gate 0”, “Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online” (more a spinoff I guess), “Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory”).
Huh.. the only non-sequel/spinoff one’s on my list are: “Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii” an otaku romance comedy, and “Fumikiri Jikan” a 5-minute slice-of-life short.
Well, I’m sure I’ll pick up some more at the end of season when reviews are in 😛

Well the SAO:GGO is a stand-alone. You don’t have to know anything about any of the other series to be able to watch it.

      • JW Reply

Well, it’s still mostly on my list because I like SAO and hope it lives up to the name.

All this pondering is gonna get them (almost) killed, isn’t it?
Loving every pixel of this comic!

Apparently there is a hell beyond the “friend” zone. It’s called the “like a brother” zone. Current occupancy: Robert.

        • JW Reply

That’s… not something you’d expect to see come up in a conversation often.

          • antrik

Would be a funny subversion though:

“You are like a brother to me…
            *
            *
            *
            …and incest is hot!”

Well, I’m sure it’s been done already.

        • antrik Reply

Friends-with-benefits zone? If that exists, I don’t think it actually overlaps with the traditional “friend zone” 🙂

      • Zero Reply

A person can eventually climb out of the friend zone. The bro-zone, however, is essentially a black hole, or singularity.

        • antrik Reply

I don’t think you can make a distinction on that, since I don’t believe it’s possible (for either party) to tell up front whether “escape” is impossible, or just very very hard…

      • Rateus Camp dweller Reply

I agree it is super nice 🙂 Particularly pleasant given how tough the main pages are at the moment 🙂

    • antrik Reply

You are late to the party — we’ve been discussing it two pages back 🙂

So shows I’m recommending to watch are: SAO Alternative: GGO, Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi (it reminded me a lot of Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away). Not very many shows popped out to me this season. I’m pumped though for summer and fall seasons. Some of my fave manga/ln’s are being made into anime. Namely: Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san, Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu, and Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken.
