Invitation for tea

I hope you haven’t had enough of Nina. Enjoy while it lasts, this scene is pretty short but I just couldn’t skip it… Privates on Patreon already have a glimpse of what I’m cooking here hehehe~

So! I’m busy. More than usual. I’m going on a week-long vacation to Hokkaido next Saturday so I gotta prepare everything beforehand, wrap up things at work, sketch out some more comic pages and finish editing (fourth pass already…) that poor excuse of a novel which I’m trying to beat into shape. Nah, I’m being too harsh, it’s not that bad. I actually had fun reading it for the fourth time too (twice this month haha) so it has to be at least decent, right? I have hope. My fiance will read it during our time off if I finish editing on time, we’ll see what he has to say about it…

Apart from furiously editing, I worked on a new illustration with cosplaying Sofia! Who follows me on Twitter or Facebook (or is a Patreon patron) probably already knows everything but – the illustration has been added on Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/sofia-x-yorha-24249606 and I posted the lineart as well: https://www.patreon.com/posts/sofia-cosplay-24147584 . If you don’t feel like supporting me on Patreon just to see a cool picture (it’s really cool though, and you’re badly mistaken if you think I won’t get happy from $1) then you can also see it on the store. There was some interest regarding posters so I added it there. Go nuts, guys! I’ll add the drawing as a vote incentive sometime this week and make a wallpaper from the one with autumn Ada 🙂

Well, that’s it. Replay will update as usual next week, my little break is not going to affect it. See you next week!

You know, I think Nina became a very interesting character – when she was first introduced I thought she might be more of a comic relief kind of character, but I am glad she evolved very quickly and became more of a “motherly” figure for some in the camp. And it’s always great seeing her in any way 🙂

Hey stop saying your novel is a poor excuse, I think the little discussion between You, Refugnic and me should show where we stand at the moment about talking bad about our creations XD

And yeah for Poster option, now just to wait until I get my money, and it will be ordered – just too amazing to pass 🙂
Especially combining two of my favorite things, from one of my favorite artists and friends out there 😉

You should know by now, that every artist is their own worst critic.

We are never quite satisfied with our own work, no matter how amazing it is.
The trick is to accept our failings and look at the good things we made.

Yeah, but isn’t it a little bit sad only talking so low about your work as an artist 😉
I mean being critical and talking yourself down- there is still a big difference. My work is bad, so I can say my work is shit, but you two, come on – maybe you didn’t reach your personal perfection, but it’s not so bad – so hold your heads up high and stop being so negative – Be more proud about what you reached 🙂

        Well, not every artist.
As with many skills, you need a certain level of competence to despair at how much room for improvement there is.

Folks, creativity doesn’t require harsh self-judgment, but it often invites it. We are closest to our work, so, of course we see the minor little flaws that any such work necessarily has. It has those flaws because it is a human endeavor; we, and our work, will never achieve true perfection. What we don’t see, for some reason, is the overwhelming amount of the work that is good, even exceptional. We have developed that massive, good part of the work through years of practice, slowly improving day by day, so of course we don’t see it; it’s just ever so slightly better than what we did yesterday, or last week, or last month. It doesn’t stand out as improvement, but the inevitable errors stick out to our eyes as glaringly wrong, even though someone else may not see it at all even when it’s pointed out to them.

Our early work doesn’t have those years of improvement, and so it really strikes us as inferior. We don’t see it as blooming promise; we see the imperfections that years of practice have taught us to avoid.

Yet, there was something in that early work that others saw as worthy.

Compared to when she started Replay, NI has developed some amazing technique, particularly with light and shading, but also with human anatomy and proportions, and expressions, and developing the plotline, characters, and all the critical elements of a story. But her early work still had enough potential and enough perfection to garner an audience. It has just improved over time. And I strongly suspect your own works show that same sort of improvement — maybe not in the same directions nor to the same scale, but it’s there.

We are our own harshest judges, it’s true. But, a judge can — with time and experience — see the good along with the, well, perhaps the not-so-good.

Hey, the new page is already there!
Stefen is making new friends, yay!

And I just realised how useful tails might be for women wearing dresses, since it ‘hooks’ it in place. Although, anatomically, where we would have our tails is probably too high up to effectively prevent clothing slip ups.

(Yes, that pun is kinda clumsy, but very intended. And I’m not ashamed. Because puns are the best.)

Well the tail should help against any pulling above the waste from causing a slip up.
And a tail is a good way to always keep your ass covered. (And if it’s long enough, you can cover a lot more with it.)

Heh…looks like Stefen is making a new friend.

Good for him too, cause in times like that, people really need to stick together.
It would appear, that Nina will come by more often starting from now.

Maybe they’ll start a little tea club while they’re at it, celebrating the times, where they didn’t have to fear for their lives on a daily basis.

I think that would be nice…cause when you’re about to drown in the sea chaos, you need those little islands of normality to keep you afloat. 🙂

Nina’s dress is cute! Sadly, it won’t stay that way. Wearing a white dress in the wilderness? That will definitely get so many stains.

Tried to toss off the mediocre tea on her while keeping the good ones for himself. Sneaky sneaky.
