Everyone survived, Robert didn’t even wake for the special effects. Magic is fun but life goes on and shiny toothpaste ain’t gonna save you from suffocation. So we leave the underground room and search for another home~

Being in Japan and looking at all those pretty manga/anime art books and illustrations I am tempted to change the style a little bit. Well, would be boring if I didn’t try to improve it, right? And I guess you are okay with it as long as I don’t remove the freckles from Ada’s face ¯\_(シ)_/¯

      Well Ada had the whole time Robert was slepping so it could have taken a few hours.

    I had to go back and check that Ada hadn’t gained a foot, then I realized that Robert’s still sitting down. Dang Ada is short.

    In this scene, we see Ada taking on the role of dutiful childhood friend[1] in waking Robert up from his slumber and packing for the trip. Robert, displaying his cross-genetic heritage, manages to sniff out evidence of the previous night’s heretical rituals; next week we’ll see the entry of the French Inquisition (everybody expects the Spanish Inquisition nowadays, so they outsourced things).

    Serious prediction tho: given the spell description as being for “acquiring glory, honors, dignities, riches, and all kinds of good,” one might assume that it’s not necessarily instantaneous – spells influence reality, they don’t rewrite it[2]. That, plus reduced effectiveness due to improper casting medium, probably means a weakened effect and increased delay – a better-than-normal tent sounds like it’d fit the bill, wouldn’t you say? That and the whole “tranquility of mind” thing remains to be seen.

    The new style is subtle, but I like it.

    [1] Since the childhood friend never wins, I can only assume this means OTP is Robert/Adam foe-ship or there are characters yet to make an appearance.
    [2] Don’t know enough about the magic system. For all I know, it *could* very well rewrite the fabric of reality.

      New style is still in the making although it feels like I’m changing something every page haha…

      And such long comment, I feel touched. I don’t want to spoil the fun but you made me emotional so I will throw in a few other options to consider~ Forget the strange medium, this was a scribble from her diary, something she drew there a while ago and probably just because it piqued here interest when she was browsing the net while drinking the evening beer. Seriously, what’s the chance she drew all Hebrew characters correctly when she doesn’t know the language? Not high, I’d say. And it wouldn’t hurt to compare what’s in her diary to what I’ve put in the SPELLS section, just sayin~ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
      But! It got shiny. Something will happen, or did already.

      And yeah, she is damn short. She can’t even pay Robert back when he smacks her head.

        Huh, I’d never noticed that the details were actually there. So many comics just default to “illegible scribbles” that I didn’t even notice there was actually writing – it matches the Spells description, but still, one more thing to look for in the future. … dangit, this means I’ve gotta binge the archive again.

        That said, well played you sneaky bastard. This is gonna be one of those comics where I’m gonna have to spend 30 minutes scanning every pixel, isn’t it?

          Nah, not really, I think most things will be explained in time but being perceptive lets you find hints faster, doesn’t it. I can only promise that I’ll do my best to make those little puzzles fit together and make all the details count. Even those pentacles (or whatever you want to call them) are carefully constructed, not some randomly arranged Hebrew letters, I will be adding explanations as Ada learns more about them~

    So is this a post-apocalyptic world, or are there still cities? I’m curious about the setting.

      I probably shouldn’t spoil the fun and explain stuff in the comment but oh well~

      Ada and Robert live in something like post-apocalyptic world but problems with demons started very recently. Cities are mostly intact but they are unapproachable, full of corpses and very dangerous to live in since demons appeared in places with high population density. People who managed to run away are camping at the military base, this is where we are now. City Robert and Ada lived in is not too far away and army is still trying to find survivors of the initial attack.

      I’d say it’s not really a post-apocalyptic world, this is the very beginning of the apocalypse.

        Ah, thanks for indulging me! Context helps a bit since webcomics storylines always progress slowly (so much art!).
