I woke up before 5am today thanks to the jetlag but other than being a bit sleepy I have survived the journey. The covid-related procedures on the Narita airport took extra 2.5-3 hours, but at least I’d get notified if the person next to me on the plane had covid. All in all, it wasn’t terrible, but I probably won’t be willing to leave the country again until they get rid of the extra tests and quarantines. I was lucky to not get covid before my flight back. It was definitely great to see my family and friends after those 3 years. Now we’re waiting for the borders to open, so that they can visit me in return 🙂

I read Aspects when in Poland but this book shouldn’t have been published. It’s not finished (it ends abruptly mid-chapter since the author died unexpectedly) and it has no plot. It seems to be a collection of scenes focusing on world-building. The prose and said world-building are excellent, don’t get me wrong, but there’s just no story there. I think someone wanted to earn some final money of the author… I’m reading The Bladed Faith now but haven’t gone far yet and still listening to A River Enchanted but I just can’t get into that one. I think it confuses me that the characters’ emotional response to what’s going on is most of the time weird and confusing to me (they react strongly to pretty much everything so the plot events drown in the bog of less important stuff). I’ll probably finish it, but my initial enthusiasm is gone at this point. My fiance is reading Children of Time and he’s absolutely in love hahaha

Well, hopefully I’ll be conscious enough this week to both work and draw the next comic page. Keep your fingers crossed!

The ripped-out pages in the notebook make me think that this is actually his fourth attempt at a non-shit drawing… XD

So them’s the ‘nodules’ from last week,
    he’s reading from entrails.
A demon slain, he was too weak,
    at drawing he still fails.

In hot pursuit of truth and knowledge,
    he studies their insides.
A work of art, he must acknowledge,
too vague to turn the tides.

The body now in front of him,
can tell of no more tales.
No way to tell, expression’s grim,
    can learn no more details.

Just saturate them with much lead,
    and maybe then they’ll drop.
No truth is found, there’s only dread,
no way they’ll just go ‘pop’.

    Mankind’s feeble, mankind’s weak,
and all die far too fast.
With all he knows, the future’s bleak,
who knows how long they’ll last.

This curse, this scourge, must have a source,
it’s this you have to find.
And take it out with all due force,
as they’ve once done in kind.

But for now, you must return,
    and wash those filthy hands.
And that corpse you’d better burn,
who knows what’s in those glands.

Good to see he’s arms-deep in the guts of the problem at least. Now to figure out the alphabet soup of demonkind.

Ah, I’m also reading “Children of Time” right now. I’m almost at the end. It’s fabulous.
    I hope it ends well.

It’s not a book for people with arachnophobia, though. I mean they’re very nice spiders, but if the idea of them creeps you out, it’s not for you.
I like jumping spiders though, if you look up pictures on the internet, some of them are seriously adorable. Little fuzzballs of cuteness.

I suppose if you’re not concerned with the effects of smoking, then monster blood contamination probably won’t bother you either…

Good to see that, meanwhile, Stefen is doing his homework and that mundane bullets still work. I hope he did not go hunt all by himself though. That would be seriously dumb, since those demons like to come in packs…
