Moving on

Time to wrap up this drama and find some magic books or hunt demons, right? Things are going to be a little awkward between those two from now on but life goes on, there’s a world to save after all. No time for tears!

The new page is a little bit later than usual because I got back to Japan at 10 pm yesterday. By the time I got home from the airport it was time to sleep. And then I got to work and managed to post this only after I got back home. I’m beat… I need a vacation after this vacation! Jetlags are the worst, seriously. I slept on the plane (first time ever, I felt like a winner!) but it didn’t help much anyway. Just need to live through this week.

I managed to draw a bit while I was in Poland so I didn’t get behind more but there was no way to repair the buffer. Honestly speaking, I think I’m going to put Replay on hiatus for some time, cause otherwise there’s no way I’ll be able to redraw those Prologue pages. So I’ll keep working on Replay but on the old pages instead of on the new ones. Yeah, I know, it’s pretty pointless, but I really want to do it so I will. Not sure when yet, though, I might want to reach a certain point in this chapter first. We’ll see!

Also, South Korea was really nice and fun, Seoul is beautiful, food is awesome, I loved the mountains too (you can see them from the city) and I definitely need to go back to do some hiking there. I don’t know any Korean but it was okay, English is enough to get by, most of the time! We had a nice weather both in Poland and in Korea but this week is supposed to be rain, rain, and some more rain… I guess Tokyo isn’t particularly happy about my return.

    Heh…I know the feeling all too well, NI.
    There’s this pile of stuff I ‘need to do’, but there’s also this pile of stuff I ‘want to do’, like for example figuring out how to establish an encrypted connection between an embedded system and a server, completely with Client authentication and all that jazz…I know, probably beginners stuff for most of the other programmers around here. 😀

    Now…that is a rather peculiar look on Ada’s face…one that might well be misinterpreted from Rob’s side.

    I wonder if she can live up to that promise of hers…cause from the looks of it, this is going to hurt way more before it gets any better.

    And regarding the hiatus: You take good care of yourself now.
    I won’t lie, I am looking forward to these updates, however I’ll deal. I think we all will.
    Always remember, nothing is won if you fall over from exhaustion…cause then we will never know how this story will end.
    And that would be quite a shame, if you ask me.
    For all parties involved. 🙂

      Oh and because I forgot in the previous post:
      The demons don’t seem to have any trouble whatsoever finding you, no matter where you are…they materialized straight inside of a tent after all.
      So securing yourself an easy to defend yet similarly easy to flee location would be best.

      If this location happens to come with supplies like beds, water, etc. it’s a definitive bonus.

        In conjunction with the little quip of ‘sharing it with a corpse’ it might well be misinterpreted as ‘But maybe you’d like to share one with me?’
        If I didn’t know the context and her internal struggle, if I only had that one picture all by itself, I’d say she’s getting ready to pounce Rob.

        Which, as we all know, she is not, but Rob can’t read minds, so he might well be misinterpreting things here.

        But then again, I’m, by no means, an expert on facial expressions. 🙂

      BTW, if it’s any consolation, I don’t know much about setting up encrypted connections… That sounds more like an admin job than a programmer job I’d say?

        Administrators are usually responsible for keeping the certificates up to date (because these buggers come with a ‘Best before’ date) and to perform updates to the software to fix discovered security issues or to add new functionality.

        However it’s the programmer’s job to create these programs and updates the Administrators are using, so before the admin can even start his work, the programmer needs to have done his job, just like before the programmer can begin working, the hardware guys need to have built the machine the program is supposed to run on.

        So yeah, depending on which field you’re working in, applying encryption is very well a programmer’s job…though it is, fortunately, not necessarily his job to also create the encryption from scratch.
        Because I am most definitely not qualified for that particular circle of math hell. 😀

    I will miss the updates, but doing what you want is important as well. And if it will help you resurrect your page buffer, I will get by without my favorite web comic for a while…

        Yeah, but he only has one now… Yet it changed hands two or three times since he drew it a couple pages back.

    no wonder the poor boy is confused, yer not making any sense, Ada! so one of two things is going on here: shes either aromantic (meaning she isnt into romance or a romantic relationship) or she just doesnt see Robbie-boy as a lover only as a good friend. considering their conversation a few pages back, they did this song and dance before plenty of times w/ Rob questioning her feelings towards him, Ada stating her feelings arent like THAT but is still quite confused herself, they both fall into a slump and then finally everything’s back to normal (more or less anyway). my heart aches for them…i want them to be together so bad, but it doesnt look as if they will be…

    I notice that most of the time their heights don’t seem to sync up properly, if Rob is supposed to be almost a full foot and a half taller than Ada.
    She should only come up to the center of his pecs or so but her head is almost always up over his shoulders as if one of them was a good four or so inches off, just a little too much to leave to Rob’s slouch. It’s a minor bother, but 5 1 is more than a little short and 6 6 is more than a little tall. When the stand together they look more like my 5 4 mom and 6 2 dad.

    [These lifetimes… Like ‘Groundhog Day’ meets ‘Terminator’… When will it all end? How many times must I watch this repetitive movie? How many times must I REPLAY this videogame of a life, before I finally beat it? How many times must I fall in love with Rob, before I can stop having to leave him? Would someone please stop this merry-go-round? I want to get off!]

    [Ugh. I guess ‘Groundhog Day’ meets ‘Terminator’ is kinda redundant, ’cause the whole ‘Terminator’ series is already like ‘Groundhog Day’. I mean, I really empathize with the T-8xx series, except for that first T-800 model. He was a real dick… Although, there was that one time I went postal… but every time looper gets one of those.]

    [Do the pains of previous time loops really get erased, each time I go back? Or, do they add up? Is Rob gonna end up like Sarah Conner in the latest movie? I mean talk about several lifetimes worth of effed-up!]
