Not giving up

Stefen tries to remain positive no matter the circumstances. The struggle ends no sooner than everyone’s dead, right? ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ

No special news this week, I’m glad the new server is working… It was kind of a gamble to switch it so quickly since right now I’m on Mallorca, enjoying last week of summer and saltiness of the Mediterranean sea. Luckily everything seems to be working fine, the didn’t have any downtime last week, yay! Here’s a photo from Palma de Mallorca.

See you next week! Updates won’t be affected by the trip.

That’s is some bad grammar in the last speech bubble…

Also that is nice wish I could go there if I had the money (;ω;)

It’s a cheap trip from Poland so I’m kind of lucky in that regard hehe~
I’m either too drunk or too dumb to see the grammar mistake. Halp.

I think they are classifying Stefen’s dialect as ‘bad grammar’.
Other than that, I don’t really see a big problem with: ‘We just need a clue to make them drop quickly enough’

Hm, maybe he means “We just need a clue on how to make those monsters drop quickly ’nuff.”, but I’m German, so I’m not entirely sure if the preposition really is required.
I mean, it IS perfectly legit to say “We just need a magic sword to make those monsters drop quickly ’nuff.”

There is a slight difference in meaning when you add the “on how”, but I’m having difficulties expressing it. I guess adding the “on how” emphasizes that he wants a manual on how to defeat them, rather than a tool? Am I making sense?

I think it’s also perfectly grammatical to say “We just need a clue on how to make those monsters drop quickly ’nuff to make those monsters drop quickly ’nuff.”
One “to make those monsters drop quickly ’nuff” specifies the sort of clue you need, and the other is the goal you want to achieve.
In this case it’s bit redundant. But you can independently vary them:
“We need a clue on how to harm those demons to make those monsters drop quickly ’nuff.”
“We need a clue on how to make those monsters drop quickly ’nuff to survive this apocalypse.”
“We need a clue on how to harm those demons to survive this apocalypse.”

To kill something effectively though, it always helps to understand them, especially their weak points.

Now where was that discussion about stuffing a primed grenade down the throat of one of those things again?
But Stefen’s right. As long as there’s life, there’s hope.

After all, you can sleep all you want once you’re dead…but not a moment sooner. 😉

The obvious weak points of monsters has always been protagonists, so we just need figure out a way to weaponize them. I propose taking a large cannon, load Robert into the muzzle, and fire him at the demons. They won’t stand a chance.

We also need a way to mass produce them. I recommend murdering every parent in a forty mile radius, then renaming the kids to have wacky names and sending them to get extreme hairstyles (thinking of RPGs here)

        • Refugnic Reply

Don’t forget to wipe their memories and put all sorts of wacky ideas about heroism into their heads.
Cause you know, hairstyles alone won’t cut it. 😛

Ah yeah, happy 15th Bavarian first day of school catastrophe anniversary (How was that? Pretty much anyone knows what they did and where they were that day?)

In this context this little message of ‘Don’t give up, because we’ll manage.’ holds even more gravity, even if it was unintentional. 🙂

11th of September 2001, better known as 9/11 was the day the twin towers came crashing down and put the world into a shock state.
It was the day, where the world declared war on terrorism, a war that silently keeps on raging even today…and as it stands, the terrorists are winning, because people are scared.

And it also happened to be the first day of the new school year in Bavaria in the year 2001.
This year, as an additional bit of trivia, the first day of school falls on the 13th of September, which is tomorrow.

That’s an easy one to answer: people tend to remember situations that triggered strong emotions. Since hearing about this event was probably quite shocking to most, they remember under what circumstances they first heard of it.

I’d wager those few people who learned about it only days later, are much more likely to remember what they were doing when they finally *heard* of it, not what they were doing when it happened…

Wait a second… What kind of longsword does Ada like? A typical fantasy one (which is like a hand and a half sword, NOT a longsword), en English longsword, a Scottish Claymore, or some other kind?

    • NotImportant Reply

The typical European longsword. I think Claymore is a type of longsword. Details about Ada’s sword hasn’t been decided yet (they weren’t provided in the original story I wrote but guys ask a lot of questions haha)

      • Klorix Camp dweller Reply

Oh boy… err… girl, do plan enough time for your research! I know from experience that there are a lot of variations for any sword type out there.
How I know? Just for fun, I had a look at Japanese swords some time ago. And for an RPG I’m playing with friends (good ol’ PnP), I had a look into Middle Eastern swords, actually searching for a nice picture of a “typical” sabre. Both took me hours. What with the different degrees of curvature and where on the blade it starts vs. the complete blade being curved and whatnot.

Of course, if you already know it should be a European longsword, you will mainly need to make sure it is not longer than Ada, and that she can lift it, and select a cool design. I’m looking forward to it, because I’m already enjoying that contrast of a rather petite woman carrying a rather pointy but blunt weapon (which they were if I remember correctly) .

Yes I do realize it will be her height or almost her height and that she’d have a ton of trouble swinging that around ;D

To an army of assembled demons, etc.
‘ So I’m sure you’re wondering why I’ve gathered you all here today.’
‘It is simply to ask one question: which one of you is the strongest?’
    Then kill off the victor.

    • Refugnic Reply

For this plan to work however, the demons require a trait, which are all too human in nature.

      Vanity.

Oh and of course they need to actually be smart enough to understand what the heck you’re saying and then they need to care about what you do have to say instead of simply tearing you apart.

So yeah…if you want to try it, be my guest. I’ll be sure to be watching…from waaaay over there. 😛
