Not at all

Just a final burst of tsundere power before we move to Stefen for a short moment. I really wanted to make a cool sun-setting effect even though it made a rather boring page. But hey, at least it’s pretty! And you can laugh at Ada being ridiculous.

Anyway, I’m back in Poland, very sleepy and groggy after those 11+ hours in a plane, ugh. But long flights are good for reading books so I kind of finished The Reckoners series. I enjoyed it! Entertaining read, even the romance plot got much much better later on. If you feel bored and haven’t read it yet – it’s fun. Not sure what I’ll be reading next, too sleepy to think about it, ugh.

And I started watching Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu since I didn’t get to it earlier and everyone seems to be so in love with it. The main character is annoying, female lead even more so, but the story is plenty interesting and those thriller-like cliffhangers at the end of almost every episode are just… ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) Argh!

I couldn’t agree more on re:zero especially when the latest episode was such a suprize I’m not going to spoil thought.. catch up!!! Also wonder how Stein’s story is going to go

While I can kinda agree Subaru is annoying, I’m not sure I can agree re:zero has a female lead. But I’m only half-way through the series, maybe it’ll change? I doubt it.
I’m kinda surprised it’s apparently based on a light-novel and not a game. (And also surprised ANN hasn’t tagged it with “harem” theme/genre).
Anyway. I like Emilia, assuming that’s the “lead” we’re talking about. Too little character development and screen time so far, so what can you really say, but she fits that role of unattainable ethereal beauty needed to lure the hero down the path to hell.

Yeah, I was thinking about Emilia and I don’t like her character because she always only fulfills her role and nothing else. It’s hard to understand Subaru’s affection when she is flat as a cardboard.

Personally, I can’t really hold it against Emilia that her writers don’t give her enough screen-time and character development; anymore than I can hold it against Replay’s lovely “nameless assistant” 😛

Come to think of it, it’s mostly that first episode where Emilia gets any decent amount of character development; they where running around together the whole day. I can kind of buy Subaru falling sufficiently in love with that Emilia, to still be trying to find her again even though characterwise she’s been in stasis.

          Or, y’know, magic 😉

Assistant isn’t anyone’s main love interest and motivation to live, Emilia is. More screen time would probably fix her for me, although she is just so perfect she’d most likely still annoy me 😀

I suspect she has a deep dark secret. It wouldn’t terribly surprise me, anyway. Maybe that’s the surprise Night Spark’s talking about.

          • NotImportant

I suspect that as well, otherwise that whole thing with the jealous witch and her similar looks, that name she used, it would be terribly misleading and had no point at all. So I hope she’ll be the witch or something like that~ As for now every scene with her is simply boring, I wish they’d give her a bit more depth.

To be fair Subaru has technically spent more time with Emilia than she has with him, due to his whole time jumping thing. So she hasn’t had time to develop, as she does pretty much the same thing each time line unless specific actions are taken to nudge her in a different direction. Given how much Subaru’s been jumping around in time, I’ve lost track of how long he has been there.

No, of course not. Not at all, Ada. Sure. You just keep telling yourself that you weren’t jealous when Sophie walked up to ‘your’ man, acting all cute. 😛

Also…this most definitely and most distinctively looks like a Prison.
I guess we’re going to learn a few things about Stefen’s past, huh?
    Sweet. 😀

    • NotImportant Reply

It’s a watch tower in their military base. And no, Stefen is still where he was, we are staying in the present.
Hold your imagination horses Ref, haha 😀

      • Refugnic Reply

        Never!

Hmm, still looks like a prison wall, quite honestly.
I don’t know, but when I think ‘Military base’, I’m not seeing high concrete walls, but much rather mere fences and stuff.
After all, neither a fence nor a concrete wall will do much good when facing tanks and stuff.

Or has this base been erected AFTER the demons appeared for the first time? If so, it makes more sense to have a fortified stronghold like that in modern times.

Well, present day Stefen is still awesome. (Still smiling over that little glitch a few pages back, where Stefen took one full minute to aim his shotgun at point blank range. :D)

A concrete wall is not as stupid as you might think, at least military bases around my town have them (especially when they are near the forest – how many deer you need to take off the fence until you get annoyed?). And no, this base was there before the attack. I’m not sure but I think it’s stated somewhere in the comic that not much time has passed since the initial hit.

And damn, I keep forgetting to fix it… 😀 Thanks for reminding me!

            >”how many deer you need to take off the fence until you get annoyed?”
Is this rethorical or is this a challenge? Because of this is a challenge, Imma take it!

Well, the *barracks* around here have a concrete wall; but that’s rather flimsy, and more for some basic privacy than for protection as far as I can tell — the same way as walls around civilian facilities. There is no barbed wire or watch towers or anything like that there as far as I remember.

(The nearby military shooting range — which appears to be somewhat more secured than the barracks — just has a rather ordinary chain-link fence around it, with some fairly basic barbed wire on top… Ironically, the civilian air port right next to it, has a more secured fence, with some serious concertina razor wire to it.)

As for actual modern military operation bases, from what I can gather they are generally geared towards mobility, since permanent fortifications are apparently not very useful in modern warfare. Consequently, they are typically protected only with fairly simple measures, such as wire obstacles and gabions. (Along with watch towers.)

I really like these two 🙂
Also: Your transitions are just great and the panel with the tower just looks fantastic (great work on the lighting).

Now I’m wondering if this is just some random guard or… He seems oddly familiar.

Not to nit-pick, but don’t people usually inhale when the cigarette is up to their lips?

Ada is adorable as always, and I hope that something doesn’t happen to prevent whatever super awesome revelation she has planned.

    • NotImportant Reply

I guess ‘inhale’ really would work better there… Thanks!
And it should be pretty obvious what she is planning to tell him, after all she only had one thing bugging her for this whole time~

      • JW Reply

On the other hand, it’s healthier to exhale when the cigarette is to your lips, and inhale when it’s as far away from your face as possible. I always suspected Stefen was a clever fellow. 😉

That kind of defeats the purpose of smoking but you are right. Technically speaking 😉

          • JW

Depends on whether the purpose of smoking for a given person is looking cool. (I don’t think anyone ever started it because it tastes nice.)

          • NotImportant

But it wouldn’t even feel like smoking anymore. I don’t smoke so I wouldn’t know but some people claim it’s relaxing ¯\_(シ)_/¯

Hard to tell with the change in drawing style. He does seem to have the same color-changing eyes 😉

And I just noticed the other’s still carrying that flower he picked up a while back.

      • Dragon Master Reply

Yeah, speaking of eyes he does share the same eye color as seen *here*.
(In case you can’t tell the word *here* is a link to previous comic.)

          • NotImportant

It’s not the driver/pizza delivery guy but those two soldiers have been following Ada around for quite a while~

Just got into Replay, and am binging all the pages. Your comic is AWESOME.
Just wondering, is Robert leftie? He’s wearing his katana so that he’d draw it with his left hand… On purpose or no?

    • NotImportant Reply

Robert is okay with both hands! His preferred way of fighting is actually dual wield.
Glad you like the comic! Thanks for reading!! ^^
