Mind freeze

Back and alive! So many comments already, you guys are more active than ever. You must seriously like our new cast members~ I enjoyed drawing this page and the whole Stefen-Nina-Filip scene very much and I hope you will have a good laugh next week when Filip will be recollecting memories from his rather hectic morning.

Let’s say hello to our newest three cast members Stefen, Filip, and lastly Nina! Let’s hope they don’t die. 😀

They have names. That makes them practically invincible for at least two more pages.

How does being called ‘Nina’ sign you up for ‘dying a horrible death’?

I mean, I’d understand if she’d be called ‘Chantalle’ or ‘Kevin’ (if she was male), but ‘Nina’?

On that note, I wonder if there’s going to be a ‘Chuck’ in this story…:D

Might be a full metal alchemist reference.
Though I wouldn’t generally draw such conclusions from one example.

          • Micah

Yeah, its an FMA reference, the dog ears made me think of her right away. And there was another movie (can’t recall the name) Where a Nina dies. Maybe it was a hasty jump, but that’s what you get for it being the first thing I though of this morning besides “I think I should take a dump” :p

          • NotImportant

Sorry guys but I don’t know FMA so it’s a pure coincidence 😀 Although I am not going to say anything about her dying or not dying~

          • Refugnic

Just looked up ‘Nina’ from FMA (it’s been a while since I last watched it) and have to say: Well, crud.
I do remember her, of course, it’s been one of the saddest moments in the entire series after all, but the name escaped me.

On the upside, there’s no need for anyone to combine anyone with anything here any more. They already are demihumans after all. 🙂

Besides, let’s not forget that more than often in story telling characters get introduced and built up for the sole purpose of killing them for maximum effect later.
Though it’s a lot of work and most authors are just too lazy, so let’s enjoy them while they last. 😛

And she’s half(Or just part? Not certain on the biology here) dog too (Sorry for the double reply)

Rip Unnamed Soldier Corpse #8. You had but two panels to play, but you played them well, and you shall live forever in our hearts.

Someone: “How are we ever going to kill these demons?”
Stefen: “Let me put my thinking cap on.”

    And the rest is history.

      • JW Reply

It could go either way, we haven’t seen the first two letters yet. In fact I’m not even 100% sure it’s two letters.

        • Insomniac Reply

I’d naturally assume ‘thinking cap’, personally. It’s such a ubiquitous term that it’s where my mind immediately went.

        • Dichu Reply

I’m almost certain that it is two letters. If you zoom in on the second panel, you can see them; they’re just too blurry to be sure that they’re ‘th.’

Well…that seems to be the question of the day.

And I guess blasting off the demon’s head with a shotgun DOES work after all. So I guess we need to reclassify the demons as ‘uberdimensional Zombies’. 😛
At first I thought Stefen had killed that soldier, until I noticed that demon corpse on the last page.

Love his ‘So what?’-attitude though. 🙂

Modeled after UTS-15 but I am not going to claim that it’s going to work the exact same way. I’d rather keep it a bit blurry.
But damn, I didn’t expect anyone to recognize it, you are good 😀

      • Insomniac Reply

Mm, I recognized it because it’s a gun I…Let’s just say there were about as many jams as shots fired the one time I used one. Definitely prefer the KSG.

Yes!!! Introducing a (future, probably) magician and a mad scientist on the same page! I knew there was a reason I liked this comic!

  6. Refugnic Reply

    Hmm…weapon of choice ‘Magic’…that’s interesting.

Up until now, I was under the impression that Ada was the only one capable of performing magic thanks to that mysterious diary which showed her the ropes (aside from Faust, being allied with demons and all that)…but I had never considered to ask the obvious question…is ‘magic’ an everyday thing in their world or has it become a ‘thing’ only when the demons attacked?

I’m not saying that modern warfare (with guns and stuff) exclude each other, but if it had been around before…then where are the guys usually doing with summonings and stuff gone wrong? Because if magic existed before the whole demon apocalypse, you can’t tell me that the governments of the world didn’t enlist capable mages to use as weapons.

Too damn useful to pass up. I mean, why send a million dollar drone over enemy territory, where it can be spotted and shot down, if a wizard can just use his crystal ball to make out the whereabouts of the terrorist of the hour and then have a capable witch make him collapse with some sort of curse?

Furthermore, if magic existed before the ending…I would think that there had to be some indicators that Faust was up to something as big as that. Or did he just stumble across some old summoning book and decided: “Hell yeah, today’s a good day to plunge the world into disaster.”? 😀

I know, I’m interpreting way too much again, but it really has me wondering…

I must admit that since this was the first page I read, that when I got back to it from reading the entire comic, I at first thought I had hit the last page button, since it was such a jarring scene change from the previous page. Also, Adam laughing on the very first page really drew me in since it was such a startling beginning and I simply HAD to know what was so funny and why he was laughing. He’s really cute too. But it is a well documented fact that I seem to find most of the males in any given web comic I am reading to be attractive. Looking back at the first page again, I can really see that your art has improved since you started, but, as others have said it was pretty awesome to begin with. I look forward to continuing on this adventure with you and finding out all about your story world… *her minions decide she is speaking incoherently and drag her offstage*

That made laugh haha, welcome aboard! I’m very happy you like the comic so far, thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts!

Well, I’ll be. Thanks a lot for the heads-up towards the community NI.
It’s unlikely they would notice otherwise. I hope they’ll find it as entertaining as you apparently did. 🙂

And, since this is an update (of sorts, even if I made it myself :P), here’s another vote for the pool towards staying in fourth place 😉

God damn it the continuity error with the dead soldier is bothering me! He should face the same direction in both panels! Why does this bother me so much aaaaauuuuuggggghhhhhhh!!!!!

Also great comic so far it’s pretty good!

    • NotImportant Reply

Thanks! Glad you like it 😀
And about the soldier – why the hell am I unable to see the problem? On both panels I meant him to face Stefen, how’s that incorrect…?

      • Refugnic Reply

If it’s any solace, I fail to see the error myself. But then again, I’m not exactly known to be a keen observer for details like that, so yeah…:D

      • JW Reply

I can barely see the soldier in the second panel. But if I interpret that little green bit at the bottom as his head/helmet, the head is on Stefen’s left hand side, instead of the right hand side. Which is to say, on our right hand side in both cases, even though we swiveled around to face Stefen.

        • NotImportant Reply

          I’ll be damned… I need to fix this! (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ ┻━┻
          Thanks for pointing it out!
