Excuse

He just didn’t think about it too much, okay?

Weird T-shirts continued, by the way. You still think it’s Laura making them? I was sure it would be pretty easy to guess haha~ But no worries, it’ll be revealed at some point. And since Filip doesn’t have any text on his shirt, can you come up with something funny/appropriate? I do have an idea of my own but I’m curious if you can beat it (you probably can lol).

I wonder if I have any news for this week… I’ve been preparing for the job interviews a lot those last few days and they are a bit of a blur. But I sketched out Kasper and Filip in their respective Madoka cosplays and finished one part/point of the secret thing that only patrons know about hehe~ I might color the guys this week, we’ll see how it goes. The rainy season has started here in Japan so a good weather to stay at home and waste my eyes away in front of the computer screen.

Anyway, enjoy the page! And I’m off to start working on the next one~

For Filip’s tee-shirt: “I survived the end of civilization as we know it, and all I got was this stupid tee-shirt!”

  2. NiWo21k Reply

I still like the shirt 🙂

But for Filip as an math student there are so many possibilities – but i think it cant be something that makes math look good (lets face it, we dont know if the creator likes it( so i would go with “Simple Calculation: Math + Me = mental breakdown” but its also possible something like “Math is the problem, thinking is the solution” 😉

Mathematicians are extremely good at abstract thinking and problem solving. Having a mathematician is very valuable if you’re trying to figure stuff out.

      • NiWo21k Reply

Never thought something different – i was just was going from the point of the crator of these slogan shirts, and maybe that this person doesnt like math 😉

“Hey Filip here’s problem for you: we’re being attacked by hordes of demons”
“Just subtract one until you reach zero”

        • NiWo21k Reply

Who said something about fighting demons with math – ok, now i have this picture of Filip with a white board in front of some very confused looking demons in mind – ahhhh….

          • NiWo21k

If all my calculations are correct, then there is no way cou can exist, so immediately stop existing 😀

        • ety Reply

I mean…. that *is* a valid solution along the lines of kill (subtract) them one at a time until there aren’t any left.

Honestly, he should be a bit relieved that he only has to do manual labor and not mathematics. He he should more than anyone that math is really, really hard.

        • Refugnic Reply

If you consider, that math is all about patterns and sequences, mathematicians make the best magicians, cause magic is based on the same things.
Okay, more runes and less numbers, but at the end of the day, that’s just a different font for the same thing. 🙂

          • NiWo21k

So you are saying they tried to teach us magic in school? Why didnt they say it direct, i think then more people would loved this class 😛

          • JW

It’s part of the selection procedure. You don’t just advertise “come join our secret society of magic users”. You first test if they’re worthy. If they can’t recognize that math is magic, they fail at the gate.

          • NiWo21k

You are right, but think about this:
If you want to have an army of magicians wouldnt it be easier to at least somehow hint that what you are doing will help you la……wait a minute…..forget it, the first thing every teacher says is – these are things that you will need later in your life – oh man we just had to listen more and distinguish more the really useless classes from the ones you might need….now there are so much things that make sense…..:-P

    Some T-shirt ideas:
    “Calculating bastard”
    “I’m with her
    —> ”
    “He tastes better
    <—"
"Don't mess with me, I know math"

    • JW Reply

      “Not red”

“That’s another fine math you’ve gotten us into.”

      “Don’t panic.
      RUN!!!!”

      “Tastes like chicken”

      “Last man on earth
      In 3…
      2…
      1…”

      “Magical Girl”

      • Klorix Camp dweller Reply

He’d probably wear it if it said “Not A” “Magical Girl” 😉

I like how it’s implied they found a bunch of white T-Shirts, then someone decided to personalise them with. Eh, being able to make others laugh is a very valuable skill post apocalypse.

    Math shirt idea…

    SQRT(-1) 2^3 Sigma Pi

… using math / Greek symbols of course. Translating as “i eight sum pi” or “I ate some pie”.

Something to that affect, where symbols / text / numbers turns into a joke. Most math is taking something and reducing it to something that makes more sense / easier to work with. As an engineer, that’s what i think a mathematician soon to be mathematician would want for a shirt. 😀

    • NotImportant Reply

Haha love it 😀 When I was studying computer science we shared some classes with guys from math, they really liked wearing silly tshirts like that.

  7. NiWo21k Reply

Because i just saw someone with the slogan shirt: “I am a mathematician, not an engineer!” –
you could change it to: “I am a mathemagician, not a demon hunter!”
    😉

Is Stefen not wearing his amulet? He’s been noticed. And he’s quite muscular for a scientist.

      • JW Reply

We know very little for sure, but I think it hides him by default, at least. (Hence why getting knocked unconscious didn’t let the demons find him).
Maybe it only works if he’s touching it, and he’s got it in his pocket now. I somehow doubt he’d leave it back in a tent or something.
It could also be he’s just so conspicuously active, that the medallion can’t hide him at the moment.

        • Klorix Camp dweller Reply

He was always able to reveal his presence, so that might just be it.

I went back to earlier pages and had a closer look at Stefen’s neck. The amulet’s cord was only visible a few times right before the last attack. So even if he is wearing the amulet now, it might be hidden by his t-shirt.

        • NiWo21k Reply

Something i could imagine how it works is, that it hides his presence until the point he interacts with specific persons or he makes his apperance obvious – Like going into a room and making a joke or something like that. And after that, everyone in this specific room are able to notice him for a while until he leaves their presence. That would explain why he is still “invisible” to the demons even after loosing consciousness – he never interacted with one directly so they never saw him – there is only the one catch with the part just before the death of Renate, where he was screaming into the tent….

  9. Crestlinger Reply

No, just a cover for the real reason he isn’t helping: he’s a walking Rube Goldberg-level klutz and became a mathematician to try and document it.

  10. NotImportant Reply

Haha I love all those tshirt ideas! A bit more and I’ll be able to give him a different funny tshirt every time he appears until the bitter end of the story!

And yes, that’s the first time Stefen has been noticed, that’s correct. Also yes, I tried to draw the amulet cord every time he was wearing it.

    • NiWo21k Reply

So he does have to wear it to use its power, its not working when he has it in his pocket? – This is somehow the way i thought it would work – The part with how he gets peoples attention is whats interessting then….

      And something totally unrelated 😀
I just read “What if companies interviewed translators the way they interview coders?” – i am no programmer, but i know this feeling, but for me its more this way https://youtu.be/BKorP55Aqvg 😀

    @vote incentive.

If anyone had thought to take a shower, they wouldn’t have to build new ones now 😉

    • NiWo21k Reply

Give them some slack, who would have carried them 😉 – maybe they should start try to train a demon as an mule.

    • JW Reply

I must admit I’ve never really considered maths to be science, though. I always interpret science as the empirical investigation of the world using the scientific method. And while you can’t really do that without maths, you can very well do maths without that.

      • NotImportant Reply

True, poor mathematicians are always said to be studying ‘rulers and hammers’, as math is only a tool for ‘real science’. But a degree in math is a degree in science as far as I know~

        • JW Reply

It seems to depend on the university whether they grant a B.Sc/M.Sc or B.A/M.A for a subject. Apparently some universities in the US go as far as offering only B.A.’s even for natural science degrees.
Given a choice between only those two, though, I’d also be inclined to say maths goes with the sciences and not the arts. But I still wouldn’t call everyone with a “science” degree a scientist any more than I’d call everyone with an “arts” degree an artist 😛

          • NotImportant

True! But mathematician (or methemagician) is such a long word…. D: So I went with ‘scientist’.

          • JW

            I know it’s just a typo, but meth(e)magician is a great nickname for a drug-dealer 😛
Or a chemistry teacher that’s breaking bad, I guess..

          • NiWo21k

            Dont say that out loud….
If it happens, and they get caught they will say it was an idea he found here in the comments and this because a secret drug comic 😛

          • JW

Well, this comic is addictive. We keep coming back for more.

          • NiWo21k

Then we should be a little bit more quiet about it, before we land on some kind of watchlist – because i have to agree with you.

          • JW

This comic is already on a lot of people’s watchlists 😉

Poor Kasper. The demons couldn’t get him down, but getting dressed as a magical girl was just too much.
I wonder what Laura’s reaction would be to seeing her brother dressed like that. 😛

    • Klorix Camp dweller Reply

Oh my, I can see the thoughts: “What am I doing? Why am I wearing this? What is even going on?”
      :))

Thanks for reminding me to go vote.

      • JW Reply

Maybe you can make that an extra vote incentive, what the girls’ reactions are to the boys dressed up.

        • NotImportant Reply

Put the boys in line and let girls be a jury lol After all we need a winner of this silly cosplay contest, right?

          • JW

Yeah, they can hold up signs with a score and shout out commentary (“Wooo! Nice legs Adam!”).
And the guy with the highest score wins enough booze to forget it ever happened (if not for the photographic evidence).

          • NotImportant

Need to sketch it out once I’m done drawing the contestants haha~

  13. Kitkat Reply

    Thought for a shirt caption:
    MENTAL
    ABUSE
    TO
    HUMANS

Not very original, but Filip seems like the kind of person who would wear a shirt like that.
