I hope you still live o.O – Look at it this way, one of the worse parts is over when your furniture is standing, then there is just to put everything in and then your apartment is nearly ready – just try looking forward to the finished part πŸ˜‰

And these two… i have no clue where you are going with them, but its getting interesting.

    • NiWo21k Reply

Also, i hope you were able to at least have a not to stressful birthday with everything that went on πŸ˜‰
      Congrats again πŸ™‚

    • antrik Reply

Bad choice of words: it’s not *getting* interesting — it’s been all along πŸ™‚

I guess it might be getting more dramatic, though…

Hmm…I don’t think that was what Robert wanted to hear, Ada…not at all.

Regarding the furniture bit…I’ve done my share of moving in my life and it’s a PITA every single time.
Someone once said: ‘The level of friendship to happily help someone move simply does not exist.’
Moving furniture is among the reasons for that…cause they never work out the way you imagined them to…but then again, maybe that’s just me. πŸ™‚

Hang in there, I’m sure it’ll be fine once you’re done. πŸ™‚

gave up asking friends to help long ago, I realized it saves time, money, and friendships if you just hire it out

I like helping people move. It’s usually not that bad.
Grab some boxes, lift some furniture into a van, and then the other way around. Get some drinks and pizza together. Done.

It’s my own moving that I dread. Packing those boxes and sorting stuff is the real pain, imo.

      • NarcolepticGerman Reply

Yep, there’s two rules about moving:
        1) You have to provide something to eat and drink afterwards. (And not just a friggin pea soup. The nerve of some people…)
        2) Every helper has to be invited to your housewarming party.

Already looking forward to february, when one of my friends is moving, he’s a damn good cook.

      • antrik Reply

@Klorix hey, stop it — I didn’t give you permission to speak my mind! πŸ˜‰

Helping others move is great — it’s like exercise, except that you are doing something useful in the process… I wish I would get the opportunity more often.

Granted, it *can* be a little painful with certain furniture (when it’s not of the kind that can be disassembled easily) — but nothing seriously uncomfortable usually.

Packing stuff on the other hand… [shiver]

      • Klorix Camp dweller Reply

But its the difficult furniture that makes the challenge fun… at least most of the times. It can be frustrating, though – I still have got no clue how we ever moved my brothers couch into his room… Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

    • antrik Reply

From what I understood, in this case it’s more about *buying* (and assembling) furniture, rather than moving?…

      • NotImportant Reply

Yeah, right now I only have clothes. There’s nothing else to move. I need to pick and buy all furniture and appliances.

      • Klorix Camp dweller Reply

Yeah, but we should still keep an eye out for that – and stray love pirates.

      • JW Reply

As long as the love pirates only board the ship and don’t sink I’m not particularly against it. The more the merrier πŸ˜‰

    • antrik Reply

Nah, I don’t see an iceberg just yet — it’s only a little storm jerking the stranded ship… πŸ˜‰

The announcement in the last page’s author comment sounded like we are to get some serious fireworks here — but so far, this looks quite innocent, and totally in line with what we have seen previously IMHO… Now I wonder, is the real bomb still to come: or are my expectations just not in line with expectations? πŸ˜‰

Here comes the truth train. Choo Choo!!!

It’s technically Monday morning so I should probably go to bed, my alarm goes off for work in less than 6 hours :-/

Oooh! And you get to play in the boxes that the furniture comes in, too! (Cat logic. ;-p )

That feeling you get when someone sets you up for a date but you’d rather be going with the matchmaker.

    • SKy Reply

And the matchmaker only did it because they’ve not noticed you showing that kind of interest in them and want you to be happy.

      • antrik Reply

Well, if they didn’t notice, that’s kinda on you…

More typically, they *did* notice, and just want you to be happy… With anyone but them πŸ˜‰

I know this is off subject here a bit, but I just noticed something in one of the banner adds. It loos like Ada gets a English looking sword at some point with rob holding both of the Katana swords.. anyway just thought it was interesting and felt I should share.

    • Klorix Camp dweller Reply

I might be wrong, but I think I read somewhere that they got the Katana(s)* as a souvenir during a trip to Japan or something?

      * Add plural form to your liking; I’m not sure how Japanese words are handled in English, as Japanese does not have plural forms IIRC.

      • antrik Reply

Oh, I have sort of a theory where you might have read that: https://replaycomic.com/comic/various-concerns/ πŸ˜‰

As for pluralisation of Katana, apparently opinions vary? IMHO, it’s always safest to just pretend it’s an English word. Trying to use the original declensions of foreign words tends to result in nonsense, since the way they are applied in the original language is often different anyway…

      • Klorix Camp dweller Reply

The use of foreign words is strange and kind of funny when you think about it. Also a little frustrating, because there is no strict logic to it…

Now I wonder, why did Sofia say she “sort of” gave Ada a heads-up? This sounds about as explicit as it could get…

    • Adriano Reply

Because you can tell when someone is lying to you.

Ada’s words may be “I’m cool with it”, it looks to me like every inch of her body is shouting “hell no!”
For some reason, Ada just can’t seem to allow herself going out/making out with Robert.
      I’m still not sure why…

Anyway, my point stands. Ada is a hypocrite, and that’s something easy to tell, especially from her I’d say.

      • antrik Reply

I’m not sure I follow. Are you saying Sofia must have known Ada wasn’t being honest when she gave her “permission”?…

I don’t see though how that would make Ada a hypocrite?

    • Rateus Camp dweller Reply

You want to check there’s nothing going on and that you have a chance before you make your feelings obvious. If they were already coupled up happily you might embarrass yourself and potentially lose a friend for nothing πŸ™

      • antrik Reply

I’m a little confused here: in reference to what exactly are you bringing this up?…

On a general note though: most likely the best way to find out whether you have a chance, is to actually bring it up… πŸ™‚ If you can do that without sounding needy, it shouldn’t really be embarrassing; and it certainly shouldn’t endanger a friendship — unless it was a dysfunctional one to begin with…

Starting by asking about their “status” is probably not a bad plan πŸ˜‰ But even there, the direct approach is probably the safest…

    • antrik Reply

Yeah, so mean of him: he totally should ignore his own desires, and give the thoughtful nice Sofia a chance! πŸ˜‰

On a more serious note, it really depends on the situation. If Ada made it clear before that she is not interested, Robert’s behaviour is indeed rather childish, and putting undue pressure on Ada. If on the other hand the situation is more ambiguous, I think he can be excused for sticking with his line. (Probably not the best choice in terms of strategy — but that’s a different story…) We still don’t really know this — though I think Ada’s forced demeanour on this page might actually be the first solid hint that there is indeed more to it than just Robert’s wishful thinking?

      • JayCloud Reply

yeah I guess that makes sense… but I meant its mean how he said it… is it bad that I did a happy dance when I read his reply?

        • antrik Reply

          I didn’t perceive it as mean… But I guess that’s subjective?

As for your happy dance, I’m mostly just surprised that you saw occasion for one πŸ™‚ I mean, in view of his previous behaviour, I would say that was the *expected* reply, rather than some sort of happy turn?…

    • JayCloud Reply

also how can I go through the week without dying of excitement for the next comic?

      • Klorix Camp dweller Reply

You cannot, and you have to endure.
Keep posting about the comic, that can help πŸ˜‰

I love this page! It’s so refreshingly different from literally dozens of Anime where the male main character is just a douche who doesn’t get anything forever (worst example: School Rumble, because Tenma and Karasuma not getting anything is literally the main topic of that series). It’s awesome that Ada suffocated this plotline right away in its seed stadium. Wait, that’s the German way of saying it. English is: “She nipped this plotline in the bud”. But this time I like the German variant better, because such a douchebag-plotline deserves some thorough suffocating. Good job! πŸ˜€

Anyway, it’s great that Ada just plunges ahead and deals with this topic right away. I don’t know whether or not her smile is fake, but I commend her nonetheless.

It just occurred to me that Robert feigning ignorance of Sofia’s interest might indeed have been what Nina was referring to on https://replaycomic.com/comic/forgotten-presence/ , when she said that Robert is putting up a front… Now I feel stupid for not realising it before.

Well, I guess that kinda came out of nowhere… Let me back-track a bit address your actual comment.

I’m not quite sure whether the plot line you are referring to is about Robert truly being unaware of Sofia’s interest; or him just feigning ignorance?… (Or even something else entirely?)

If it was about actual ignorance, I don’t think it’s fair to use the word “douchebag”: I believe this invective refers primarily to faults of character, not of perception… Also, Robert is not *that* dense. While he might have been genuinely unaware of Sofia’s interest up to a point, it’s really quite clear that he got the message when she stressed the fact that the sandwiches are for him specifically. He is only downplaying it because he is afraid Ada might be jealous…

If on the other you actually meant the fact that he is feigning ignorance (what Nina might have been referring to), I guess the term might be a bit more appropriate — though I still don’t think it quite fits. But since you talked about “not getting” something (and since it seems to be the main theme in School Rumble), I guess you indeed meant actual ignorance?…

Either way, it should be noted that while Ada might have nipped this particular instance in the bud, it’s not clear at all at this point that the Oblivious to Love trope is averted entirely… For one, there is still a distinct possibility that something along these lines might be going on between Ada and Robert. Some commenters in fact seemed to be taking it as granted at one point or another… (Not sure whether that’s still the case?)

Also, there are some suspicions of this happening between Sofia and Kasper… πŸ™‚

Quite frankly, while it’s certainly clichΓ©, I think this trope can still make for some fun drama, as long as it’s not played ad nauseam πŸ™‚ Indeed fairly few romance plots would be left standing without at least some amount of it in play…

(Also, I find it odd that you bring up School Rumble as example — considering that it’s a parody, i.e. actually *making fun* of the over-use of this trope?…)

  10. Klorix Camp dweller Reply

Ugh, I’m so slow… I only now realised, or rather made the connection, that Ada did not react to Sofia back in camp because she knew something was coming…

Ada, you can’t be Rob’s wingman when he’s already got a target lock on your six o’clock!!!
